A Generous Donation
HERE IS WHAT WE ARE DOING.

I. On Sunday, March 16 (our first try at this)we went to the Brewster A&P with 33 reusable bags that we purchased ourselves. We set up a table in the front of the store with the bags and a flyer explaining what we were doing.

Well, we lasted about 1 1/2 hours. People reacted very positively. We also set up a donation box. $16.00 the first day!

 

II. Our next date:  Sunday March 30, 11:30 AM. The A & P in Goldens Bridge on Rte. 22. Two hours of passing out bags and flyers. $35.00 in donations to buy more bags. Definitely warmer.

 

III. We went back to Brewster on Sunday, April 13. We took in more money and gave out 42 bags.

IV.Due to other matters, we took some time off and we went to the A & P in Yorktown on Mother's Day, May 11. This was the first warm Sunday. We gave out about 45 bags and took in $38.00. We ran out of flyers and just had to talk to the people about what we are doing.

 

V.We have been going out about every 2 or 3 weeks this summer. Check out the BIG DONATION web page.

 

VI.  Anna was in Greece in August so we didn't do any bag work.We're planning in the fall to try to get Putnam County to pass a reusable bag law similar to Westchester County and Rockland County.
